The stage is state. On January 2nd, the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans will be the host of the Allstate Sugar Bowl between the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Utah Utes. This year’s Sugar Bowl provides one of the most gripping match-ups on college football’s bowl schedule. Alabama, with all of its history, plays Goliath against the latest version of David, the Utes from the Mountain West.
Alabama head coach, Nick Saban, led the Crimson Tide to a 12-1 record in just his second year at the helm. Alabama began their season with a statement win over then-#9 Clemson, 34-10. Four weeks later, they faced then-#3 Georgia and rolled to a 41-30 catch. At that point, hopes were high in Alabama. Many knew after the Georgia win that the Crimson Tide were back on the national scene.
On November 2nd, Alabama was given the #1 ranking in the country. With that ranking and a 9-0 record, they went to Baton Rouge and beat nationally ranked LSU, 27-21, in overtime. Three weeks later, they beat Auburn to finish the regular season with a perfect 12-0 record. All that remained between them a shot at the national title was the SEC championship game against Florida.
Alabama lost to Florida, 31-20. With that loss, their national title hopes faded away. As a consolation prize, they are playing in the Sugar Bowl. Will they be ready for this game, or will they be unnerved by what might have been?
Utah does not have to worry about what might have been. They have done everything right this season. Head coach Kyle Whittingham is in his fourth season at Utah, and has them support on top of the Mountain West Conference. Utah earned some recognition by defeating Michigan in their first game. They earned some more on October 2nd when they defeated Oregon State. After those two impressive non-conference wins, Utah had to manage their tough Mountain West opponents. Finish wins over TCU and BYU highlighted their November, and gave Utah a perfect 12-0 regular season.
Both teams feature senior quarterbacks. John Parker Wilson (2096 yards, 9 TDs, 6 INTs) leads Alabama’s offense. His statistics are unimpressive, but it is his intangibles that are significant. He has two outstanding running backs to hand the ball to, junior Glen Coffee – who rushed for more than 1300 yards – and freshman Mark Ingram. They will be running behind junior left tackle Andre Smith, the best offensive lineman in the country. Wilson’s favorite wide receiver target is freshman Julio Jones, who is 153 yards away from 1000 on the season. These elite athletes will test a Utah defense that has given up only 17.3 points per game, but has yet to face an offense like Alabama’s.
Utah counters with senior quarterback Brian Johnson, who threw for 2636 yards, 24 TDs and 9 INTs. He has a two-running support attack behind him. Darrell Mack and Matt Asiata split carries all season long. They will be running into a tough Alabama front seven that includes defensive lineman Terrence Cody and linebacker Rolando McClain, who racked up 91 tackles on the year.
If the game stays close, it may come down to kicking. Both teams feature excellent kickers. For Alabama, Leigh Tiffin fulfills those duties. He was only 19-for-26 on the season, but has a long field goal of 54 yards. Utah’s Louie Sakoda was outstanding this season, making 21-of-23 field goals. His long is 53 yards. Remember, this match-up is being played indoors so weather will not be a factor on kicks.
Alabama is, without question, the odds-on favorite to rep the Sugar Bowl. The only question is this: Will they be motivated? They were hoping for a dwelling in the national championship. Instead, they rep Utah in the Sugar Bowl. For the Utes, the Sugar Bowl is their national championship. This is their one and only chance to show that they belong at the top of the college football world.
The intangibles should keep this one close. My prediction? Alabama 38, Utah 31. A Utah accumulate, however, would not be as big of a surprise as many people think.

Decide What Type of Coverage
It’s advisable to take the time and decide what type of auto insurance coverage you need. All consumers must have liability coverage. This type of coverage must be fulfilled in every state. However, you can decide on getting comprehensive and collision coverage.
Car Insurance Discounts
If your car has additional safety features you may be eligible for discounts on your insurance policy. Design sure to ask the agent what type of discount you can receive if you have the following devices on your vehicle:
Airbags
Car Alarms
Automatic Seat Belts
Anti-Lock Brakes
You may also be eligible for multiple car discounts and a multiple policy discount.

Here is a recommended listing of coverage to compare when you get a car insurance quote:
Collision Deductible
Medical Payments

Some insurance companies offer customers an option of increasing their comprehensive and collision coverage deductibles. This lowers auto premiums and saves you money.

There's no simple answer to the question of what the average impress of auto insurance is. Auto insurance rates are determined by many factors and conditions. Is the driver male or female, old or young, experienced or newly licensed? Do they drive an older vehicle or a newer model with all the latest safety features? Are they getting liability only or a comprehensive coverage plan?
To give some examples of average insurance costs across the United States, let's consult a sight done by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC). While the study only shows data through 2008, statistically the percentages of increase and decrease in costs fluctuates at less than 3%. This means the data and figures won't be very far off from new pricing and statistics.
The average price of auto insurance nationwide is shown as being $789 per year. While $800 a year for insurance is an average nationwide, if we look closer at certain states and localities, we inspect that this can be very far away from the average of certain places. For example, Washington DC has an average insurance cost of $1,126 as it is listed as the most expensive state for auto insurance. The least expensive state listed is North Dakota, with an average yearly insurance cost of $503.
The 10 most expensive states to carry auto insurance in on average are DC, Louisiana, New Jersey, Florida, New York, Delaware, Rhode Island, Nevada, Connecticut and Maryland. The 10 least expensive states to have auto insurance in are North Dakota, Iowa, South Dakota, Nebraska, Idaho, Kansas, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Maine and Indiana.
Insurance costs in some states are higher, not just because of the area in which you are living, but also because people in that area may be better able to afford more expensive newer vehicles, which they are insuring with comprehensive coverage for greater amounts. The opposite is true for areas with poorer economies; consumers are driving older model vehicles and insuring for less. They are probably getting by with liability only. These are generalities that mumble only to the circumstances in general of determined locales.
Auto insurance will also be more expensive in urban areas that have more traffic and more vandalism. This is why certain cities are much more expensive than the states average that they are located in. Detroit, Michigan is one such city. The state average is $907 and the average annual auto premium for Detroit is $5,948. While the Louisiana average is $1,105; the average for New Orleans is $3,802.
So, we can give an average overall for insurance policy costs across the country; but it is far from an average for any state, person or type of vehicle.
